These included the Galileo Museum which had many different items originally owned by the medici family and the Bargello Museum which was originally a police station and jail before being converted into a museum. It was full of sculptures by artists such as Michaelangelo and Donatello and included two bronze statues of David that were completely different to the one that everyone knows.
The first few nights we had home cooked meals because we were trying to save a bit of coin and also because I was finding it quite difficult to get around.
However, on wednesday night we finally got into 'Trattoria la Casalinga' which we had been trying to get into for weeks, but there was always a huge line out the front. It is written up in every lonely planet that you read on Florence and is very popular with the locals. We had bruschetta for antipasti and then 3 bowls of pasta to share for mains (bolognaise, pesto and ricotta/spinach ravioli) and the whole meal cost us less than 30 euros.
The restaurant was across the river, and as one of us was crippled and the other one very full, we took our time in getting home, stopping along the way to admire some of Florence's highlights that we see every day!
Thursday after Anna finished school, we went to the Gucci museum which was quite interesting to learn about the history of the most iconic fashion label in Italy.
We also continued our scrabble competition. Currently I am leading 6 games to 3, although Anna still holds the record for the highest individual word score with 107!
